The Scripture Corner

Some folks say they would like to do volunteer work when they retire. Just to spend some
free time usefully. But I say, why wait till you retire, do it now. I’ve heard it said that it
increases your self-esteem when you do something for someone else. Well, it’s true and it
does other things for you as well. It takes your mind off your problems, which when
constantly thought about can become much too large to handle yourself. It’s one thing
to plan how you will solve a difficulty, but it’s even better to trust the Lord with your
problems. He is wonderfully able to answer the dilemma’s without your help, thank you
very much!! So instead of obsessing over your problems, get busy helping someone else
and give your problems to Him. According to Daniel 3:17, our God was able to deliver the
3 Hebrew children from the blazing furnace that they were going to be thrown into.
Because they wouldn’t worship the golden image of King Nebuchadnezzar the penalty
was the fiery furnace. God can rescue us,they said, but even if He doesn’t He will be with
us through it and we’ll come out without even smelling of smoke like the 3 Hebrews came
out of the furnace that the King put them in. When you focus on Him instead of your
problem, you’re bringing Him glory by trusting Him to save you. For the Lord knows He
has a good plan for your future, it’s a plan to give you a hope,it’s not a plan to harm
you. He knew about your problem even before you were born. He sees the end from the
begining and knows exactly what you need before you even pray. (see Jeremiah 29:11-14)
So when you are busy helping others while your problem seems to be getting worse. He
can work His miracles for you because you’re out of His way. The best thing for you is
J.O.Y. J.-esus first
O.-thers second, Y.-ourself last. When we humble ourselves He can exalt us in due season.
Where as if we exalt ourselves, he’ll have to humble us; Matthew 23:12, Luke 14:11. Just
remember,I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me .
