What’s Happening by Rita Sweeney
· Dec. 17—Carol L.,Sharon,Jen,Wendy, Marie, Paul,Roy and both Steve’s went to
Conyngham Care for a Christmas visit. They brought presents for each client and
cookies and soda. Everyone enjoyed the singing and time together.
· There were 3 trips to Christmas Boulevard in Berwick because there were so many
members who wanted to go to see the lights this year. Of course the jolly old elf
himself was there handing out chips and accepting donations. In all there were about
18 members who enjoyed the trip.
DEC 19—We had our 5th Christmas dinner and it was a great success! There was ham and
all the trimmings. Some members helped bake cookies on the 14th. We sang a song Marie

The Scripture Corner

The Pauline Epistles are filled with advice on how to walk the walk. Colossians 1:9-13 is
an example. He says he prayed for his brothers that God will fill them with wisdom and
understanding and that they would grow in their knowledge of the Lord and please Him
in every way. Wisdom comes from God’s Word and the Holy Spirit who teaches us God’s
way. The Greek word for wisdom is sophia and means wisdom from God.The fear of the
Lord is the beginning of wisdom but fools despise wisdom and understanding, Proverbs
1:7,9:10. Knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. God’s wisdom overrules mans
knowledge. Isaiah 55:9 says “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways
higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.” He sees the whole picture
from above and we see only a tiny section of the picture. We must trust Him and stop
futilely trying to maintain control over things. Colossians 1:13 claims we’ve been
transferred from the authority of darkness into the kingdom of light. We’ve been
redeemed from the curse of the law. We’ve been delivered from Satan’s kingdom into
God’s glorious kingdom. Christ has paid the price of His blood to deliver us from the
bondage of sin's grip on us. We are forgiven when we accept His sacrifice for us.
Through Him He’s reconciled all things in heaven and earth to Himself.
